Welcome to Owl Microfinance, a student-run, budding Microfinance Organization.
What does this mean, you may ask?
It means we help develop businesses. But by businesses, we're not talking about small enterprises in the traditional sense. We are talking about the most neglected entrepreneurs on the planet-- many of whom did not go to college, may not be able to read or write, and may go to bed hungry every night so their children can go to school or get treated for an illness.
We're talking about microenterprises.
Hundreds of millions of people worldwide own their own businesses so they can have jobs that create revenue for their families.
Sadly, many of these small entrepreneurs do not have the ability to expand their businesses or become more profitable. They lack the fuel that powers business development worldwide-- financial services.
This is where we come in. We help make loans for entrepreneurs around the world and develop business training tools for use right here in Houston.
For us, this isn't just some business opportunity. It's about alleviating poverty. This may seem like a lofty goal, especially for students.
